Client’s requirements
We were asked to mirror the organisation of the London which we had managed 7 months before. However we needed to take into account a predominantly US market and working in a different location and culture. The client required a venue which could hold up to 400 attendees in a plenary session, but also house a large exhibition and catering within downtown San Francisco. Additionally this was to be an open event to all attendees in the wireless sector.
L2’s solution
We researched 22 venues in the city and presented the viable options. We then negotiated with the preferred venue to ensure we had the most cost effective solution for conference rooms and accommodation. The registration system was adapted to open the booking options up to the general public as well as adding accommodation booking option and managing this closely. We created and managed a partner exhibition by designing small, low rise booths to give and open environment for networking.Once again L2 was able to use their knowledge and expertise of this event and the client to produce an event of equally high standard across the Atlantic.
Results
For the first time ever the SPE sucessfully opened its doors not only to Symbian partners, but also to mobile developers, handset manufacturers, network operators, the Open Source Community and members of the press.The venue facilities were deemed excellent and L2 achieved the maximum score for its service in the post-event feedback by attendees.
